4th annual Red-breasted Goose winter counts in Ukraine,
season 2006-2007

Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Birds continues simultaneous winter counts of Red-breasted Goose in Southern Ukraine. Similar to the previous year, this year counts are conducted within the framework of international monitoring scheme simultaneously with BidLife Partner organizations from Bulgaria and Romania. The scheme covers the main part of this species wintering range.

Currently, results are available for December 2006 count. Totally, on December 15th-16th, there were 1965 birds counted in Southern Ukraine. Highest numbers were counted in Kherson region (Zaozerne village, 700 ind.) and Crimea (1085 ind. in total).

Next counts are on January 20th-21st 2007.
